Please read to the end – it answers our most frequently asked questions and allows us to spend more time producing food, running events and supporting our community.
About Our Food

We are a dedicated Free From Gluten production kitchen.
-
We are EHO compliant, registered with the Environmental Health Office, and approved by the Coeliac Society of Ireland since 2012.
-
All products are naturally free from:
Gluten, Wheat, Oats, Rye & Barley. -
We may also offer products that are dairy-free, egg-free, sugar-free or free from other allergens, product-dependent.

We do use other allergens in our kitchen, such as dairy, eggs, nuts, peanuts, soya etc. All allergens are clearly labelled on our product lists and menus. It is the legal obligation of the customer to highlight allergens upon ordering and to acknowledge the allergens that are present in our kitchen. We use an allergen list on every order!

We comply fully with EU Allergen & Labelling Legislation.
Please tell us clearly if you have any allergies other than gluten/wheat.

We do not currently produce novelty or wedding cakes.
How to Order – Step by Step
All food is made fresh to order in small batches. We operate on a limited order slot system and a first-come, first-served basis.
Step 1 – Browse

If there’s an item you don’t see listed, feel free to ask – we may be able to accommodate.
Step 2 – Send Your Order Request

Order slots:
A preferred date can only be held for 24 hours while we await pre-payment. After 24 hours, unused slots are released to the next customer.
Step 4 – Payment
All orders must be pre-paid in full to secure your date.

For non-BOI customers, transfers can take up to 5 working days to reach us, so please allow extra time or pay directly into a BOI branch if your order is urgent.
Payment must be received no later than 48 hours before your order date (during office hours). Early payment secures your slot and avoids disappointment.
We do not give cash refunds on over-payments.
If an over-payment occurs, a credit note will be issued.
Step 5 – Order Confirmation & Collection/Delivery

Once payment is received in full, we will send you a receipt/confirmation email or message.

Your order is not confirmed until you receive this receipt.

Minimum Order & Money-Off Vouchers

Minimum order for fresh food items: €20 (excluding delivery).

No minimum spend for food stall purchases or wellness brands.

One voucher per total order.

Must be signed, dated and posted/ scanned to us in advance.

Credited manually to your account.

Available occasionally on flyers at events we sponsor.

We are often in the kitchen, at market stalls, expos or workshops, so we may not answer immediately – but we always return calls and emails.
Please allow:

Minimum 1 week’s notice for standard food orders (order book dependent)

Minimum 2 weeks’ notice for customised cake toppers
-
Minimum 4 weeks’ notice for corporate & event catering (site visits, menu planning etc.)
During market season (March–December) and especially December, our order book is very limited.
Christmas ordering deadlines are advertised annually on our website.

2pm – 9pm, Monday to Saturday (pre-orders only)

If you need an earlier collection, your order may be prepared the day before your event, subject to availability.
Please check your order at collection.
Concerns must be raised immediately, while a member of our team or the collection point staff is present.
We cannot address complaints once the order has left the collection point without being checked.
Deliveries & Courier
Local Delivery (Kerry)
-
We operate our own company delivery service across the Kerry area.
-
Free delivery within a 5km radius of Tralee town centre.
-
Outside this radius, delivery is from €2.50 per km.
-
Deliveries are usually from 2pm onwards, Monday to Saturday. Earlier deliveries may be possible subject to the order book.
Courier & Postal Services
Some ambient food products, books, wellness brands and merch may be suitable for courier/postal delivery.
-
Courier charges generally range from €7.50–€25, depending on product and service.
-
An Post postage costs apply for books & merch (charged by weight).
-
We do not charge extra to deliver to a courier depot or An Post in Tralee (within our 5km radius).
-
Once items leave our HQ, we have no control over handling.
-
Courier companies do not insure damaged food products – using this option is at the customer’s own risk.
-
We package all items carefully and label as Fragile where appropriate.
Fresh cream, short shelf-life and delicate products are not suitable for courier. These are only available for local collection or our own delivery service.
You will receive a tracking number for courier/postal orders.
Courier/postal services operate under their own T&Cs and delivery times may vary, especially in peak seasons.
Christmas Order Book

Our Christmas Order Book opens each year on November 1st and closes by mid-December (exact date advertised annually).
-
Christmas products are available for collection only between December 20th and 23rd.
-
Only items on our Christmas Menu are available during the Christmas dispatch period.
-
Last date for Christmas courier dispatch is advertised each year.
-
The GFK Co. closes for holidays from December 23rd until early January (dates announced on the website).
Christmas orders are subject to availability. Early booking is essential.
Cancellations & Refunds (Food & Events)
Food Orders
-
Cancellations must be made during office hours and via our Contact Form or email.
-
An order is not confirmed as cancelled until you receive written confirmation from us.
Fresh Food Orders:
-
Cancellation within 48 hours of delivery/collection: no refund.
-
Cancellation one week prior to order date: 50% refund (less any out-of-pocket costs), to cover lost order slots and ingredients.
Christmas Orders:
-
Christmas cakes & puddings are made to order and are non-refundable once confirmed.
-
For other Christmas orders, cancellations before the Christmas order book deadline may receive up to 50% refund (less costs).
-
Cancellations after the Christmas deadline are not refundable.
Events, Workshops & Retreats

Cneasú event tickets are sold directly and via Eventbrite and are subject to:

Each venue’s T&Cs, and
-
The T&Cs of the booking platform (e.g. Eventbrite fees).

Pre-paid event tickets are non-refundable, as events still have overheads even if a guest cannot attend.

You are welcome to discuss ticket re-sale options between community members, but Cneasú / The Gluten Free Kitchen Company do not take responsibility for the re-sale of tickets.

Full refunds are available only if an event is cancelled by the venue or host.
Refunds on wellness retail products are subject to each individual brand’s T&Cs.
All refunds, where agreed, are issued as credit notes unless otherwise stated.
This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
Shelf Life & Storage
Our products are fresh, handmade and free from preservatives, so they have a natural shelf-life:

Cakes (no fresh cream): 3–5 days in an airtight container, out of the fridge for best taste.

Bread/ Scones:
-
Freeze on day of collection/delivery for up to 3 months.
-
Slice, wrap in cling film (not foil) and store in an airtight container for 3–5 days.

Doireann Barrett is a trained and experienced Wellness Advocate with over 30 years’ retail experience. We only recommend products that we personally use and have strong customer feedback on.

Cneasú Wellness Hub & Community
Cneasú (Kna’su) means healing in the Irish language.
Cneasú is our community-based wellness hub, supporting people who have experienced trauma through chronic illness, addiction and loss. We offer safe, inclusive spaces to gather, connect and heal through shared experience.
Doireann Barrett (Founder of Cneasú & The Gluten Free Kitchen Company) has spent more than 30 years immersed in holistic wellness practices, indigenous healing rituals, and lifestyle methods that support living with chronic health conditions. In 2022–2023 she completed her Diploma in Psychology & Mental Health to better support community members navigating trauma, while continuing her studies full-time in Journalism, Radio & Podcasting with Kerry College / Radio Kerry having qualified with a Distinction in November 2025.

Season 1 of Cneasú the Podcast went live on Spotify on September 20th 2025, marking a major milestone in our storytelling, advocacy and community-building journey.
Cneasú began as a small monthly support hub in our café in Ivy Terrace, Tralee (2012–2014), later moving online in 2015. It officially became Cneasú in 2021, and has continued to grow into a vibrant, supportive community offering:

A Safe, Supportive & Inclusive Space
The Cneasú Community is a holistic hub created for those navigating Chronic Illness, trauma, life transitions, or the challenges of accessing appropriate care and support. Our community is built on compassion, lived experience, and creating safer spaces where people feel seen, heard, and understood.
Before joining our WhatsApp groups, online platforms, or engaging in any of our community spaces, please read the guidelines below.
1. Peer-Support Only (No Medical Advice)
All information shared within our community is based on lived experience and publicly available resources from reputable health organisations.
Cneasú does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
Please consult your GP, specialist, or qualified healthcare professional for all medical concerns.
2. Respect, Kindness & Confidentiality
Cneasú is a non-judgemental space where people share very real and often vulnerable experiences.
We ask all members to:
